What Is Xifaxan?

Recently, I have read several articles about what is Xifaxan. Xifaxan or “Eleuthrosine” is an over the counter supplement sold in health food stores that is supposed to be effective in the treatment of Candida (yeast infection). However, it has not been approved by FDA or any other medical regulatory body as of yet. In fact, the only company manufacturing it currently is scraping off the label and putting a “for information only” label on it. The distributor is not required to reveal his business address either.

Yeast infections, when they are left untreated, can develop into fungal infections. This is especially dangerous because Candida is a pathogen that can easily spread and become systemic. Candida, which is the scientific name for yeast, is responsible for most yeast infections including oral thrush, yeast infection of the vagina, and candidiasis, or yeast overgrowth anywhere on the human body. If left unchecked, Candida can also become a serious opportunistic infection which can spread from one part of the body to another and even to someone else’s bloodstream. So the question becomes, what is Xifaxan?

One of the main causes of chronic yeast infections is due to a lowered immune system. This is usually brought about by a compromised immune system from a weak immune response to a prescription that might have been contaminated with a harmful antibiotic. The majority of yeast infections, even the mild ones, are caused by the overgrowth of Candida albicans. It can however get “under the counter” without a prescription by using certain yeast creams or suppositories. But what is Xifaxan?

The answer is that Xifaxan is the trade name for the non-prescription supplement that is marketed under many names under the guise of a yeast infection cure. However, it is also commonly marketed as a prescription yeast infection remedy. In fact, the only two products licensed to treat yeast infections are Diflucan and Nizoral.

Xifaxan is basically a sugar alcohol manufactured to treat Candida yeast infections. The benefits offered by this sugar alcohol are that it reduces the amount of sugar in the bloodstream, which is a common factor in yeast infections. It also helps to alleviate itching and swelling in the area of the infection.

However, Xifaxan does not offer any cures. A natural alternative is available that works by restoring the acid/alkaline balance to help combat recurrent yeast infections. This involves abstaining from alcoholic beverages, avoiding foods and drinks that promote the growth of yeast (i.e. sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white bread, beer, processed foods, etc.)

It is very important to use a natural treatment for your yeast infection that does not involve drugs. There are no known side effects associated with this sugar alcohol substitute. For most women, relief is experienced within two days. In some rare cases, an allergic reaction can occur. If you notice any adverse reactions, discontinue use and seek advice from your doctor or health care provider immediately.

It is best to try a natural alternative to what is xifaxan before turning to a prescribed drug or capsule. Both options have their own risks and benefits. Do not take responsibility for using a prescribed drug without the direction of your physician. In addition, always consult with a certified homeopathic practitioner before using a natural remedy for your yeast infection.

What is xifaxan? It is a safe and reliable anti-fungal supplement that can be used to treat your yeast infection. It works by inhibiting the production of ergosterol, the primary cause of yeast infection. Ergosterol is known as the “love bug” of the fungus. The candida fungus feeds on glucose, and xifaxan keeps the glucose level in the bloodstream under control. It also has the effect of suppressing candida production and helping to maintain overall body health.

What is xifaxan? Xifaxan is offered in various forms in many drug stores. In addition, it can be purchased online. You can also purchase a liquid version of xifaxan, which is easier to swallow, at your local pharmacy.

If you are considering a supplement to help you treat a yeast infection, what is xifaxan can be a valuable option. However, before purchasing it, be sure to research its manufacturer and read the label carefully. Make sure you do not take more than recommended. Consult with your doctor and a pharmacist if you have any questions about the product. It is important to take precautions to avoid any side effects.
