What is Hardware? Hardware is any item that can be defined as part of a computer system. Computer hardware usually includes all the external components of a computer system, including the case, central processing unit (CPU), main motherboard, hard drive, computer memory, sound card, video card, Ethernet adapter, USB key, printer, monitor and so on. These are just a few of the many pieces of hardware that make a personal computer. There are many other pieces of hardware that may be found in a personal computer like printers, scanners, keyboards, scanners, webcams, external, USB drives, cameras, televisions and others.

What is hardware description? The hardware description is a term used to describe the arrangement and configuration of the physical parts in computer systems. The word “software” can be used to describe these physical parts as well. In this article we will define what is hardware and then go over what is software.

What is hardware description? To begin it is important to understand what is hardware first. A computer case is made of at least several pieces of hardware. The computer case includes the front and back panels as well as at least one external monitor or multiple internal monitors. The case also houses some optional elements like the battery, the hard disk, optical drive, and even additional slots for adding other hardware items.

All the internal components of a PC are housed in the computer cases. The parts inside the case that are technically inside the computer case are referred to as peripherals. For example, the optical drive is part of the peripheral component and is listed as an external peripheral device in the operating system. Each peripheral part has a specific function that aids in the operation of the PC.

The computer system’s architecture determines the programming language, type of hardware that is used in a PC and other hardware details. There are four primary computer hardware components. These hardware components are an internal microprocessor, a main memory, a CPU (a central processing unit), and a video card. The internal microprocessor executes instructions that are stored in an instruction memory. Instructions are executed on the PC via the CPU, which is a separate piece of hardware from the other three components. An operating system controls the operations of the computer and hardware devices that are connected to the PC to allow the user to select applications and programs to load into the memory of the PC.

The computer system hardware must have at least one input device in order for the PC to communicate with the user. The most common PC input devices are the keyboard and the mouse. The PC output devices refer to the monitor, the printer, the speakers, the USB port, and other physical components that are needed to connect a PC to a peripheral device. Peripheral devices can include printers, scanners, keyboards, touch-screens, webcams, etc.

The third component of what is hardware is software. Software is what enables the PC to do what is hardware is capable of doing. Some examples of software that is part of a computer system are operating systems, application software, drivers, and so on. A typical operating system is Windows, while a typical application software program is developed for the Mac.

The PC hardware has a variety of names depending on the function it performs. For example, a keyboard is a hardware device whereas a mouse is a software device. A graphics chip is a software gadget whereas a sound chip is a hardware gadget. All the major types of hardware are present in a personal computer, although there are more computer hardware components present in some newer models.
