What is CCWIP? Contrary to what you might think, it is not acronyms for Congestion Veil Technology. It is a short form of packet delivery technology. What it does is define the method of using broadband internet connections and utilizing standard internet protocols to transfer traffic.
How does this help people? It can help you if you need to share the same network with a lot of people all at the same time. For instance, say you have a VoIP company that offers free interoffice calls. You can use the phone system to make local or long distance calls without incurring additional charges. This means that you can use your phone while you are on the road.
If you are a business that has thousands of customers that all access your network, what is CCWIP can save you from a lot of expense. If you have voice traffic going to and from your data network via different locations, then you will incur a lot of charges just to send those messages. With this form of CCWIP, there is congestion control in place that will guarantee that no one is getting a busy signal.
Why is CCWIP important when it comes to networks like the internet? Well, what happens is that with more people using the standard network and using the same bandwidth, something will have to be done about the overload. If the network is congested, what happens is that a standard message gets dropped and a busy signal comes back at the other end. In fact, this could happen anytime there are more people online than can fill up the pipeline.
In order to avoid these problems, a congestion-free virtual traffic control solution needs to be put in place. You can’t stop people from using the network. That doesn’t mean that the system can’t work. What you need to do is to give priority to what your client wants rather than what your ISP wants.
How is this accomplished? Well, in the world of broadband Internet access, it isn’t very difficult. It is done through a software tool. Once this software is installed and active, it will determine what the ideal amount of traffic for the particular website is.
It will adjust the bandwidth usage accordingly. If it finds that the current amount of traffic is too high, it will slow down the flow of data until the desired rate is achieved. At the same time, it will send a signal to the user or server to slow down the connection. The server or the user will then see that the desired rate has been reached and will honor the request. This is the entire process of how CCWIP works.
It may seem complicated, but this is exactly how it is done. In addition to that, if there is congestion, CCWIP will recognize it and shut down the application until the blockage is cleared. This prevents the site from getting affected. It can also be used to test how fast a particular application may go over a certain amount of time and will let you know if it is getting congested or not.
So what is cwip, anyways? Well, it is short for congestion negotiation protocol. It was developed by Cisco as a means of helping IT professionals determine how to handle congestion on the network. In essence, it helps determine what the ideal amount of traffic is for a certain application. It will analyze the data packets that are sent out of that application and compare it with the data packets that are received back. If it finds that the packets are not balanced out, CCIP will decide what needs to be done.
What happens is this. When an application is going through heavy load, it will send out a large amount of data. However, it may not be receiving any data back. When this happens, the networking device sends out a request for data. CCIP will then examine the packets to determine if it is overloaded and will then adjust the flow of the traffic so that it gets some response.
Now, this brings up the question of why it might become congested in the first place. During normal usage, there shouldn’t be too much of a problem. If you were in a perfect world, congestion would never happen, but the real world is never that perfect. If there are too many users connecting to one network, CCIP will surely find a way to send all of that traffic to some other network that will be easier to handle. It also takes into account how long the user is on the network. If someone is on the network a lot of time, CCIP will keep a more eye on that user than normal.
Of course, what is cwip isn’t always something that you want to have to deal with. If you find that your traffic gets pretty heavy at times, you should consider lowering the number of users that are using the connection. There are some programs that can be set up to handle reducing the traffic that is being used. This will help to lower the time that it takes to get through certain sessions and also reduce the amount of congestion that can happen in a given period of time.
